BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Women's tennis secured an important victory over Waynesburg University on Wednesday evening, defeating the Yellow Jackets 6-1 to clinch a spot in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) playoffs. It is the first time the Golden Tornadoes have made the PAC playoffs since the 2020 season, and it is a big milestone for head coach
Nate Heidengren in his first year with the program. With the win, Geneva's record jumps to 6-5 overall, 3-3 in PAC play, while Waynesburg drops to 5-6, just 1-5 in the PAC.
The women began the day by sweeping all three doubles matches, getting 6-1 wins from sophomore
Chloe DeSanzo and senior
Lauren Estes in No. 1 doubles as well as from junior
Rachel Hodsden and senior
CeJaelyn Perednia in the No. 2 spot. Junior

Jenna Allison completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory in the third flight.
DeSanzo and Estes continued to impress in singles play, knocking off their respective opponents in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, across the top two flights. Hodsden battled to a win in No. 3 singles action, taking the victory 7-6, 6-4, and Perednia managed to hold on for a three-set victory in the No. 5 slot. Freshman
Paige Phillips earned the last point of the day for the GTs, defeating Waynesburg's No. 6 singles player 6-2, 6-1.
The women travel to Thiel for their next match, a 3:00 p.m. contest this Friday, October 3
rd. They will then wrap up regular season conference play by hosting Franciscan next Tuesday, before beginning preparation for a playoff match.
