BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team put together another impressive performance on Saturday afternoon against Baldwin Wallace at Brady's Run Indoor facility, sweeping the Yellow Jackets 7-0. That's the second sweep to start the season for the women.
Geneva earned the doubles point with wins in the top two flights. Senior Lauren Estes and sophomore Chloe DeSanzo took No. 1 doubles 6-2, while senior CeJaelyn Perednia and junior Rachel Hodsden won 6-4 in No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, DeSanzo breezed through her opponent in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1. Estes battled back in No. 2 singles after dropping the first set, winning 5-7, 7-5, 6-0. It was an especially impressive because after falling behind 5-0 in the second set, she scored the final 13 games of the match. Hodsden also won her match in No. 3 singles in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 7-6.
In No. 4 singles, Perednia won 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Abigail Anderson won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 5 singles, and junior Caroline Reed swept her opponent in No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0.
The women will open Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. match at Grove City.
