Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Settles for Scoreless Draw at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Geneva men's soccer team dominated much of its game at Thiel on Wednesday evening, but the Golden Tornadoes could not find the back of the net before settling for a frustrating 0-0 draw.  Geneva is now 6-2-3 overall, 4-1-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Geneva controlled the possession throughout the first half as Thiel bunkered in and waited for counter opportunities.  Sophomore Logan Pappert's shot five minutes into the match narrowly missed the corner of the net.  The Golden Tornadoes continued to control play, but despite an 11-1 edge in shots at the break, the game was still scoreless.

The second half brought more of the same as Geneva kept most of the possession, with the match being played primarily on Thiel's half of the field, but the Golden Tornadoes could not find a way to break through the Tomcat compact defense, and the game ultimately finished without a goal.

Geneva finished with a 23-5 advantage in shots, but the Golden Tornadoes could only put seven on frame.  Freshman Eli Stasiowski made three saves to earn the shutout.

The men will now have three straight home matches coming up, beginning with a game against Bethany on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on Reeves Field.
