Carroll and Konneh Receive PAC Weekly Honors

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Senior Hailey Carroll and sophomore Abe Konneh were honored by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) with a weekly award on Tuesday for their record-breaking performances at the SPIRE Indoor Collegiate Games on Saturday.  Carroll was named the PAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while Konneh was named the PAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week.

Carroll, who has been breaking records almost every week during the indoor season, broke two more school records on Saturday.  She began the day by breaking her own record in the mile race, winning the event with a time of 4:56.48, by far the best time in the PAC this season.  Later in the meet, she broke her own school record in the 800-meter race, winning the event with a time of 2:18.38, again the fastest time in the PAC this season.

Konneh almost broke two school records as well.  In his first race of the day, he broke the school record in the 60-meter sprint by finishing in a time of 6.90 seconds.  Later in the day, he narrowly missed out on the school record in the 200-meters, finishing with a time of 21.75 seconds, which was second at the meet.  Both times are the second fastest run in the PAC this year.

A few track and field athletes will compete this weekend at the WGH PAC Tuneup event hosted at Warren G. Harding as the team prepares for the PAC Indoor Championships next Thursday, hosted at Youngstown State.
