Mathews Named PAC Newcomer of the Week

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Geneva freshman sprinter Titus Mathews was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Track and Field Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday for his performance over the weekend at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational.

Mathews opened the day by running a time of 50.27 seconds in the 400-meter race.  He actually owns the second fastest time this season in the PAC in the 400-meter event with a time of 49.66 seconds that he ran at Spire the week prior.

Mathews finished his day by running the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay that finished with a time of 3:25.65, which is the fastest time of any school in the conference has run this season.  Also running on that relay were senior Seth Tyson, sophomore Abe Konneh and freshman Tyler Boyle.

The track and field team is off this weekend before returning to action on Saturday, February 14, with another meet at Spire.
