Rapp Named Pitcher of the Week After Strong Spring Break

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – After dominating the competition she faced in Fort Myers on the Geneva softball team's spring break trip, senior McKenzie Rapp was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Pitcher of the Week when the conference released its weekly awards Monday afternoon. Her exceptional pitching allowed the Golden Tornadoes to go 8-2 on the week, with Rapp earning three of those wins.

Rapp started four games for the women over the course of their first ten games, going 3-0 with 15 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.00 in 21.0 innings pitched. She earned two complete game victories on the week and allowed just three earned runs total. Her week was highlighted by a complete game gem in which she tossed 7.0 scoreless innings, striking out six Saint Joseph (CT) batters to stifle the Blue Jays in Geneva's 2-0 victory. She followed up that performance with another 7.0 inning start, going the distance while allowing just two runs and striking out four in a 7-2 win over RIT.

The hot start for Rapp has placed her in the top three in the conference in both wins and ERA. She has also been extremely accurate, giving up just three walks on the season.

The Golden Tornadoes wrap up their time in Fort Myers today. After that, they will return home to take on Pitt-Greensburg in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, March 17, before beginning conference play.
