NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Junior Julianna Easley scored three times for the Geneva College women's lacrosse team in its match at Muskingum on Wednesday afternoon in an 18-5 loss to the Muskies.
Geneva played well defensively early in the match as junior goalkeeper Lexi Lee came up with several key saves to limit Muskingum to just one goal over the first ten minutes of the game. The Muskies broke the game open, though, with six goals over the next seven minutes before Geneva got on the board with back-to-back goals by junior Mara Fowlow and Easley midway through the second quarter. Muskingum took a 10-2 lead into the halftime break.
Easley added her second goal of the match midway through the third quarter, and then sophomore Taylor Robinson added a fourth goal midway through the final quarter. Robinson then assisted on the last Geneva goal of the game, scored by Easley, to wrap up the scoring.
Easley finished with six of Geneva's eight shots in the match. Sophomore Madi DeRuiter made her first appearance for the women and made an immediate impact with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Lee finished with 14 saves in the match, while grabbing four groundballs.
The women will be busy next week over Geneva's Spring Break, playing three times starting with a match on Monday at Ferrum beginning at 4:30 p.m.
