BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Women's lacrosse hosted Bethany College on the Wright Fields at Veterans Park Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Bison 16-5 in their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup. The Bison ran out to a big lead in the first quarter, and the Golden Tornadoes found themselves struggling to keep up for the rest of the match. Geneva's record slides to 1-11 with the loss, 0-4 in PAC play, while Bethany improves to 6-3, 3-1 in the PAC.
The visitors scored five goals in the first quarter to take a commanding lead early in the match. Geneva got one back thanks to a goal by junior
Julianna Easley, who was playing in her first game back after being sidelined for a few weeks due to injury. Sophomore
Taylor Robinson also netted a goal for the GTs before the halftime break, but Bethany led 9-2 as the second quarter came to a close.
Senior
Hannah Skwarek converted a free-position shot for the women in the third quarter, and then scored again early in the fourth period off an assist from junior
Mara Fowlow. Easley notched one more goal before the game ended, scoring with under three minutes to play, and that rounded out the scoring for Geneva as the women lost 16-5.
Skwarek and Easley each scored twice for the Golden Tornadoes, with the former recording an assist as well. Easley also finished with seven ground balls and four caused turnovers, both career-highs. Fowlow notched with a team-high two assists, while senior Kathryn Whitla led the defense with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Junior goalkeeper
Lexi Lee made ten saves in the loss.
The women are off for the next week due to the Easter holiday, returning to play at Washington and Jefferson College on Wednesday, April 8, at 6:00 p.m.
