Men’s Golf Impresses with Second Place Finish at Westminster

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The Geneva men's golf team had a solid start to their season Monday afternoon, taking second place overall at the Westminster Fall Invitational. The Golden Tornadoes recorded a team score of 323, beating out fellow Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponents Grove City, Westminster, Saint Vincent, Waynesburg, Hiram, and Thiel. Freshman Chris Brown and senior Ryan Edwards each ended in the top five to lead the way for the men.

Brown was outstanding in his collegiate debut, carding a 74 to take second place overall and finishing just two strokes shy of the leader. His score immediately puts him in the Geneva record book, where he is now tied for the eighth-best round in program history. Not far behind him was Edwards, who took fifth place at the Invitational by shooting a 75. Edwards managed four birdies over the course of the round while Brown finished with three.

Junior Evan Baker, who joined the program in the spring of last year, had the third-best round of the day for the men, carding an 84. Senior Owen Bouscher rounded out the scoring with a 90.

Junior Linkoln Gundacker also had a solid round on Monday, shooting an 86 while competing as an individual.

The Golden Tornadoes will look to keep the momentum going this weekend as they compete in the Malone Fall Classic. The multi-round tournament will take place across Friday and Saturday, September 4th and 5th, with both days beginning at 10:30 a.m.
