MEADVILLE, Pa. – Junior Chloe DeSanzo picked up an impressive win in No. 1 singles on Tuesday afternoon at reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champions Allegheny, the highlight for the Geneva women's tennis team in its 6-1 loss to the Gators.
DeSanzo's victory in No. 1 singles came in three sets. She split the first two sets 3-6, 6-4, before winning the third-set tiebreaker 10-5.
"We knew coming in that Allegheny was going to be a really tough team and was going to push us to the max every line," said Head Coach Nate Heidengren. "Our ladies fought hard in every match and the scores don't show how close some of the matches were."
"It was great to see Chloe get the win at 1st singles," continued Heidengren. "Chloe played strong and was a mental wall against Allegheny's number one, who did not lose in the conference all last year. She is establishing her position as one of the top players in the PAC this season. We are excited for the rest of the season!"
Geneva will play its fourth straight road match to open the season when the women travel to Baldwin Wallace on Saturday for a 10:00 a.m. start.
