BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva women's tennis team earned their first victory of the season Monday evening, defeating Saint Vincent College handily, 7-0. After a tough opening schedule to start the season, the Golden Tornadoes are happy to find themselves in the win column, with their record moving to 1-3 overall, 1-2 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play. Saint Vincent remains winless at 0-5 overall, 0-2 in the PAC.
The women were flawless throughout doubles play, winning all three matches 6-0 without dropping a single point. Junior

Abigail Anderson rounded things out with a sweep in No. 3 doubles.
Hodsden, Phillips, and Reed were all perfect in singles play as well, defeating their opponents 6-0, 6-0, in No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 singles. DeSanzo bested Saint Vincent's top player 6-0, 6-1, while Anderson won in No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0. Freshman
Audrey Underwood won the final point for Geneva, earning her first collegiate victory in the No. 6 slot, 6-2, 6-2.
"I'm proud of the way our ladies competed today," said head coach
Nate Heidengren following the match. "Their hard work and dedication are continuing to show, and it was great to see that effort result in a win. Audrey earned her first collegiate singles victory, which is a terrific accomplishment, and Caroline had an outstanding performance today as well. Overall, it was a complete team effort and a great momentum boost as we move forward this season."
The GTs will only have a few days off before their next match. They host Division II Clarion University on Thursday, September 21, at 6:00 p.m. The match is set to take place on the Blackhawk High School courts, but will be moved to the Brady's Run Indoor Courts should there be rain.
