BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its weekly women's tennis awards Monday afternoon, and Geneva junior Chloe DeSanzo received the PAC Player of the Week honor. After she went undefeated across four singles matches and four doubles matches last week, leading Geneva to a 3-1 record overall on the week, the award was well-deserved.

DeSanzo opened the week by giving up just one game across her two matches with PAC opponent Saint Vincent on Monday, partnering with senior Rachel Hodsden to win in No. 1 doubles 6-0 before defeating her No. 1 singles opponent 6-0, 6-1. The Golden Tornadoes then played non-conference matches on back-to-back days against Pitt-Greensburg and Division II Clarion, and DeSanzo easily handled her competition once again, with her No. 1 singles match against Greensburg the closest one with a score of 6-3, 6-1. Geneva swept all three of those matches as a team, 7-0.

The highlight of DeSanzo's week was winning both her doubles and singles matches against PAC rival Grove City, a team that is one of the top two in the PAC standings annually. DeSanzo and Hodsden narrowly won their match in the top doubles flight, 7-5, before the junior earned a very impressive 6-0, 6-1 victory in No.1 singles. DeSanzo has now defeated the top player on both Allegheny and Grove City's teams, giving her a decent chance to go undefeated in PAC singles play. Over the course of last week, she dropped just seven games in eight singles sets.

DeSanzo and the rest of the women's tennis team return to play this Tuesday, September 29, with a home match against Thiel, which is set to start at 6:00 p.m. on the Blackhawk courts. The Golden Tornadoes will then have a week off before their next contest.
