Men’s Golf Wins Golden Eagle Invitational

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio – The Geneva College men's golf team won the four-team Golden Eagle Invitational on Friday, hosted by Kent State Tuscarawas at the Oaks Shadow Country Club, which also included Penn State Greater Allegheny and Miami Middletown, with Miami Middletown only bringing three golfers.  The Golden Tornadoes finished with a team score of 340, beating second-place Kent State Tuscarawas by ten strokes.

Sophomore Jacob DeLisio (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) shot a season-best 80 to lead the Golden Tornadoes.  Senior Trent Belleville (Washington, Pa./McGuffey) carded an 82, while freshman Parker Cera (Titusville, Fla./Titusville) finished with an 85.  Freshman Michael DeMiere (Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) rounded out the top four with a 93.  Freshman Joshua Hido (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt) shot a 98.

"It was a beautiful day, but pretty windy, which made things challenging," said Head Coach Andrew Fee.  "Despite the conditions, we did some things really well today, while also doing a number of things fairly poorly.  I was glad to see guys come through with a win, though, for this young team."

The men will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Grove City to take on the Wolverines at 12:00 p.m.
