NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio – Senior
Ryan Edwards shot a program-record two-under par on Friday at the Golden Eagle Invite, hosted by Kent State Tuscarawas, to headline a brilliant team performance for the Geneva men's golf team. The Golden Tornadoes shot a 308 overall, which tied them for second place overall at the tournament and is the fifth-best round in program history.
Edwards carded a 70, which ties him for the best score in school history with
Austin Goehring, who also shot a 70 in the fall of 2024. Goehring's round, however, came on a par-71 course, whereas Edwards finished two-under on a par 72 course on Friday, giving the senior the edge. His effort placed him second overall out of 49 golfers at the Invite.
Freshman
Chris Brown was the next-best golfer for Geneva, shooting a 75 across the 18 holes to finish in a tie for fourth place overall. Junior
Linkoln Gundacker also broke the 80-stroke barrier, carding a 78. Junior
Evan Baker and graduate student
Owen Bouscher wrapped things up for the Golden Tornadoes, shooting an 85 and an 89, respectively.
The men won't have to wait long before their next competition as they travel to Latrobe Country Club on Monday, September 21, to take part in the Saint Vincent College Invitational. The tournament is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
