ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. --- Team and individual records fell as the Geneva men's golf team beat Grove City, 314-345, at Connoquenessing Country Club.
"Our men played like they had something to prove today and I am extremely proud of them," said Geneva head coach
Henry Kennedy. "The fact that we had two individual scores beat the previous record set this season, another score which would have been a record last season and two that tied the record from last year shows how much this team has grown in a year. I couldn't be happier with how they showed up today."
Sophomore
Joshua Hido set a Geneva record with a 75 to take medalist honors. Freshman
Austin Goehring shot a 77 to lead the Geneva 'B' team, the second-best individual score in the new era of Geneva men's golf history.
The five members of Geneva's 'A' team shot 81 or lower, all scores that would have been the top scores in team history last season.
Michael DeMiere shot a 79,
Jacob DeLisio and
Timothy Ehko shot 80s, and
Trent Belleville shot an 81.
The top four Geneva 'A' team scores added up to the team's best single round score in new era history, 314, surpassing the mark of 331 set twice this Fall.
Geneva will compete one more time before next week's Fall session of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships. The Golden Tornadoes will play against LaRoche and Westminster in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, October 4.
