FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Geneva College baseball team wrapped up its week of play in Florida on Saturday with a game against Drew University, and the Golden Tornadoes dropped their final game over Spring Break to the Rangers, 11-1. Geneva's record is now 2-7.
Sophomore Giovani Noa (Homestead, Fla./South Dade) got the start for the Golden Tornadoes, and Drew jumped on Noa early with two runs in the first and three more runs in the second, knocking Noa out of the game.
The Geneva offense struggled to get anything generated, as the Golden Tornadoes didn't get their first hit until the top of the fifth inning. Senior Adrian Tapia (Homestead, Fla./Keys Gate Charter) supplied the only run of the day for the Golden Tornadoes with an RBI-single in the sixth.
Freshman Zack Sackett (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) picked up two hits, including a double, for the Geneva offense to lead the way.
Baseball will return back to campus this weekend and look ahead to its home opener on Thursday when Geneva welcomes Hilbert to town for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
