BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Geneva College softball senior Sarah Johnson (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) continues to add to her impressive collection of awards over her Golden Tornado career, receiving two more postseason honors when she was recently named a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Second Team All-American, as well as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team All-Region VII selection.
Johnson came off a season last year in which she broke the single season school record with a .510 batting average, including a school record 74 hits, earning her Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year honors, as well as being named an NFCA Second Team All-American. This year she finished the season with a team-leading .441 batting average, including five doubles, four triples and one home run. She also stole 34-of-36 bases, including her career 100th stolen base late in the year.
For her career, Johnson has a .458 batting average and a .492 on-base percentage. She has 194 hits, including 35 extra-base hits, 137 runs and 103 stolen bases. Johnson is planning to return for one more season with the softball team, putting her on pace to break the school record for career hits, runs and stolen bases. Her .458 career batting average is already a school record.
