ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. – The Geneva College men's golf team earned its first win of the 2022-23 season on Tuesday afternoon, beating Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Waynesburg, 331-332, at the par-71, 6,343-yard course at Connoquenessing Country Club.
"It is always nice to under-perform in a match and still walk away with a win," said first-year Geneva College head coach
Henry Kennedy. "We're not satisfied with how we played today, but it was a good start to what we hope to accomplish throughout the rest of the season."
The Golden Tornadoes took home course advantage in the season opener and posted the lowest team score on record in the second year of the new era of men's golf at Geneva, following a 40-year hiatus from competition.
Senior
Trent Belleville led the team with a Geneva record-low 78 (+7) and finished second in his first round of the season. Belleville knocked four strokes off his previous best at Geneva.
Junior
Jacob DeLisio, sophomore
Timothy Ehko, and freshman
Austin Goehring finished in fourth (83; +12), fifth (84; +13) and sixth place (86; +15) to round out the team scoring for the Golden Tornadoes.
Geneva returns to competition on Thursday, Sept. 15 at the Grove City Fall Invitational.
