MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Geneva men's track & field team placed tenth with 37 points at the 2023 Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Friday and Saturday. The field was a mix of 28 NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and NJCAA programs in the opening meet of the 2023 outdoor season.
Senior
Jack Garvin picked up where he left off in the indoor season, leaping 1.93 meters in the High Jump to take second place.
Freshman
David Kondraciuk earned points in two events for the Golden Tornadoes. He finished fifth in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 50.89 seconds, while placing eighth in the Long Jump with a leap of 5.89 meters.
Rookies
Eli Eisenberger and
Evan Freil placed in the top eight in the 10,000 Meter Run. Eisenberger ran a time of 34:11.89 for fourth place, while Freil finished seventh in 35:43.22.
Junior
Noah Foust took seventh place in the Discus Throw with a toss of 41.60 meters, followed by senior
Giovanni Segura in eighth place at 40.32 meters.
Three other competitors earned points for the Golden Tornadoes. Sophomore
Kevin Arseneaux placed sixth in the 5,000 Meter Run in a time of 15:38.23. Senior
Josiah Helmer ran a seventh place time of 10:14.10 in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase. Sophomore Tim Ehko placed eighth in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 45.45 meters.
Geneva returns to action on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18, for the two-day Muskie Duals at Muskingum University in Ohio. Competition begins at 4 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
