Arseneaux Leads Men to Second-Place Finish at PAC Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Geneva College men's track and field team got strong performances from several athletes, including sophomore Kevin Arseneaux, leading the Golden Tornadoes to a second-place finish at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships on Friday, hosted at West Virginia University.  The men finished with 110 points, behind only Grove City.

Arseneaux brought home two of the three first-place finishes for the men on Friday.  He won the 800-meter race with a time of 1:54.03.  He then broke the PAC Championship meet record in the 1500-meter race, finishing with a time of 3:53.11.

Senior Jack Garvin added the other first-place finish, winning the high jump by clearing 1.91 meters.  Freshman Aiden Rorick added a fifth-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters.  Garvin also placed fifth in the javelin on Thursday with a throw of 52.75 meters.

Senior Josh Blessing had a strong day in the sprints.  He finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.02 seconds.  Sophomore Desmond Lewis added a fifth-place finish in the race with a time of 11.21 seconds.  Blessing also placed fourth in the 200-meter race with a time of 22.46 seconds.  Lewis was right behind him in the race, finishing in 22.47 seconds.

Blessing and Lewis also contributed on the relay teams.  The 4x100-meter relay team of Blessing, Lewis and sophomores Amari Andrews and Gabe Trexler placed second with a time of 42.90 seconds.  In the 4x400-meter relay, Blessing and Lewis ran with freshmen David Kondraciuk and Alec McCready to place fourth overall with a time of 3:29.97.

Kondraciuk added a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter race with a time of 22.63 seconds, while adding a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter race in a time of 51.63 seconds.

Freshman Karter Reath had a strong run in the 3000-meter steeplechase, placing third in a time of 9:55.18.  Sophomore Eric Hardman had a strong day in the hurdles, placing fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 58.07 seconds, while placing sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.63 seconds. 

In the throws, junior Noah Foust had a very good day.  He placed third in both the discus, throwing 42.49 meters, and the shot put, throwing 14.49 meters.  Senior Giovanni Segura added a fifth-place finish in the shot put, throwing 13.29 meters, while placing seventh in the discus with a toss of 38.72 meters.

Several of the men will head on to the National Christian College Athletic Association championships, scheduled to begin on May 10 at Columbia International in Conway, South Carolina.
