COLUMBIA, S.C. – Freshmen Carmen Medvit and Karter Reath brought home titles at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held over the past three days at Columbia International University, while several other Golden Tornadoes turned in strong performances at the season-ending meet. The men finished sixth overall, while the women placed 10th, out of 22 schools at the championships.
Medvit captured the 5000-meter race, winning in a time of 18:09.05. Reath won the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:51.73.
Sophomores Brian Cline and Eric Hardman finished second and third in the 400-meter hurdles. Cline finished with a time 56.65 seconds, while Hardman was right behind in 57.12 seconds.
In the jumps, senior Jack Garvin added a third-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.90 meters. Freshman Emma Parnell brought home a third-place finish, hers in the triple jump with an effort of 10.87 meters.
Junior Noah Foust had a strong championship in the throws. He finished fourth in both the discus (43.13 meters) and shot put (14.24 meters).
Freshman Hailey Carroll narrowly missed out on a school record in the 800-meters, placing fourth with a time of 2:19.62, less than a half second off the school record time. Senior Alexis Montgomery added a top five finish in the javelin, placing fifth with a throw of 33.32 meters.
The Geneva men's 4x100m relay team of senior Josh Blessing and sophomores Amari Andrews, Desmond Lewis and Gabe Trexler also finished fifth with a time of 42.93 seconds.
