BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Graduate student forward
Ryan Rachic added to the accolades he's accrued during his time at Geneva on Tuesday night, being named by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) to the All-PAC First Team during the conference's post-season awards show. It is the second consecutive year that Rachic has been a First Team All-PAC honoree, and the fourth year in a row that he has earned All-PAC recognition. The GTs' other graduate student, guard
KC Johns, was named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team as well on Tuesday night.
In his final season for the men, Rachic led the Golden Tornadoes in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game on the year. Those numbers put him third in the conference in both categories, and he was the only player in the PAC to be in the top five on both lists. He also averaged 2.3 assists per game, third on the team, and 0.8 steals per game, second on the team, while shooting 45.3% from the field and an impressive 85.2% from the free throw line. Midway through the season, in a road game against Waynesburg, he scored his 1,500
th career point for Geneva, becoming just the 14
th player in school history to achieve that feat. Later in that game, he stuck a fadeaway jumper from the baseline to beat the buzzer and give the men the victory.
Rachic ends his Geneva career as one of the best players to ever wear a Golden Tornado jersey. He finishes at number eight on the all-time scoring list for the GTs with 1,670 total points scored, and he is fourth on the all-time rebounds list with 876. He helped lead Geneva to the program's first-ever PAC Championship win last season, leading that championship team with 15.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, and was named to the PAC All-Tournament team for his playoff performance that year. Additionally, he was named to either the All-PAC First or Second Team each of the four seasons he spent with the Golden Tornadoes following his transfer from Division II Gannon.
Johns receives his PAC Sportsmanship Team recognition after being thrust into the starting lineup this season following the graduation of All-PAC point guard
Isaac Massie. Johns averaged 5.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game this year, often using his speed and quickness to provide a spark for Geneva in critical moments.
