GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Geneva College men's and women's track and field teams competed on Wednesday afternoon at the Grove City Mini-Invitational, their final competition before the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships occur in two weeks.
Senior Kevin Arseneaux was the top finisher for the Golden Tornadoes, winning the 5000-meters in a time of 15:30.21, while placing second in the 1500-meters with a time of 4:12.07. Juniors Eli Eisenberger (15:33.98) and Karter Reath (15:35.97) were right behind Arseneaux in the 5000-meter race, placing third and fourth. Freshman Ethan Haring was close behind in the 1500-meter race, placing third with a time of 4:12.56.
Seniors Jackson Thomas and Timothy Ehko had good days in the throws. Thomas finished fourth in both the shot put (12.50 meters) and discus (36.17 meters), while placing sixth in the javelin (45.11 meters). Ehko placed fifth in the javelin with a toss of 46.66 meters.
Junior Seth Tyson had a busy day, placing third in the 400-meters (52.14 seconds) and fourth in both the long jump (6.20 meters) and triple jump (12.09 meters). He also ran on the 4x100m relay team, along with seniors Desmond Lewis and Amari Andrews and freshman Jaden Duckett, that finished second with a time of 43.21 seconds.
Lewis had the best day for the men in the sprints. He placed second in both the 100-meters (11.19 seconds) and 200-meters (22.54 seconds), while Andrews placed fourth in the 100-meters (11.49 seconds) and fifth in the 200-meters (23.34 seconds).
A few other strong performances for the men included a fourth-place finish in the pole vault for freshman Isaac Butler (3.40 meters), and fifth-place finishes for freshmen Trevor Nasso in the 800-meters (2:03.49) and Nathaniel Smith in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.37).
On the women's side, Carmen Medvit placed second in the 1500-meters with a time of 4:48.31. Freshman Audrey McAlister placed third in the 5000-meters with a time of 19:03.00.
Freshman Sara Vos had a good day in the sprints. She placed third in both the 100-meters (13.07 seconds) and 200-meters (27.60 seconds), while also running on the 4x400m relay team, with seniors Rachel Blessing and Favour Oladapo and junior Rowan Dennis, that finished third with a time of 4:27.15.
In the throws, junior Allison Standish placed second in the shot put (11.26 meters) and fourth in the discus (32.56 meters), while freshman Kyla Parks finished just ahead of Standish in the discus with a throw of 32.86 meters. Junior Emily Garvin also brought home a second-place finish, throwing 35.18 meters in the javelin.
In the high jump, freshman Olivia Seetoo and sophomore Daphne Alexander each cleared 1.48 meters, with Seetoo placing fourth and Alexander fifth.
The PAC Championships will be held at West Virginia University again. A few events will occur on Thursday, May 1, with the majority of the championships taking place on Friday, May 2.
