MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Geneva College men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their week in Myrtle Beach this weekend during Spring Break with their first outdoor meet of the season, competing at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Friday and Saturday.  A total of 34 schools or running clubs competed at the meet, including several Division I and Division II colleges.

Senior Carmen Medvit was the lone first place finisher for either squad, placing first in the 5000-meters with a time 17:29.51.  Sophomore Sienna Jackson finished fifth in the event with a time of 19:33.95.

Junior Daphne Alexander had another good day in the high jump.  Fresh off her PAC Championship performance during the indoor season, she cleared 1.60 meters on Saturday, placing her sixth overall.  Sophomore Olivia Seetoo cleared 1.55 meters, placing her tenth.

Senior Emily Garvin made her first appearance for the track and field team this season after wrapping up her standout basketball career, and she placed second in the javelin with a throw of 37.38 meters.  Sophomore Arionna White, another Golden Tornado making a move over from the basketball team, placed eighth in the javelin with a toss of 34.36 meters.  Junior Lydia Nagel added an 11th place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:44.43.

The men's sprinters had a good first meet.  Freshman Judah Abram led a quartet of sprinters in the 100-meters with a time of 10.98 seconds.  Freshman Titus Mathews ran a strong time in the 400-meters, finishing in 49.49 seconds.

The men also had some good relay performances.  The 4x100m relay team of Abram, senior Seth Tyson and freshmen Alex Mastoris and Karim Ouardirhi placed fourth with a time of 41.94 seconds.  The 4x200m relay team of Copeland, Mathews, sophomore Jaden Duckett and freshman Tyler Boyle placed seventh with a time of 1:31.65.  Both relay teams weren't far off the school record time in each event.
