MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Geneva College women's track and field team finished sixth at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships on Friday, hosted at West Virginia University.
Junior Carmen Medvit was the top finisher for the women, placing second in the 5,000-meters with a time of 17:24.41.
The women did well in the high jump, with three jumpers scoring points. Sophomore Daphne Alexander placed fifth, clearing 1.55 meters, while sophomore Katelyn Mathews and freshman Olivia Seetoo both cleared 1.50 meters to place sixth and eighth, respectively.
Freshman Audrey McAlister captured a fifth-place finish in the 10,000-meters, finishing in a time of 40:52.64, a personal best. Junior Emily Garvin also added a fifth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 36.03 meters.
Freshman Sara Vos had a busy and successful day in the sprints, setting three personal bests. She placed sixth in the 100-meters with a time of 12.99 seconds, sixth in the 200-meters with a time of 26.97 seconds, and seventh in the 400-meters with a time of 1:01.47.
Other scorers for the women included sophomore Kaelyn Hartman placing sixth in the long jump with a distance of 4.97 meters, freshman Emma Thellman placing eighth in the pole vault with a personal best 2.72 meters, and junior Allison Standish finishing eighth in the shot put with a throw of 11.43 meters.
In the relays, Geneva's 4x400m relay team of Vos, seniors Favour Oladapo and Rachel Blessing, and junior Rowan Dennis placed fifth with a time of 4:19.70. The 4x100m relay team of Vos, Garvin, Dennis and freshman Arionna White placed seventh with a time of 51.77 seconds.
The PAC Championships represent the end of the season for the women, as the Golden Tornadoes are not participating in the National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Championships this year because the meet occurs next week during Geneva's finals.
