Sauer Leads Five PAC Honorees for Men’s Soccer

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its postseason awards for men's soccer on Friday afternoon, as voted on by the PAC coaches, and five Golden Tornadoes received all-conference recognition, led by senior Cole Sauer (Middleburg, Pa./Midd-West) who was named as a First Team All-PAC selection.

Sauer started all 18 games for the Golden Tornadoes and was a key part of Geneva's strong defensive unit.  In fact, he has started in all but two of the 65 games Geneva has played over his four seasons.  Sauer also provided support offensively, scoring twice and assisting on two other goals.  He was an Honorable Mention All-PAC selection as a sophomore.

Junior Noah Abdel-Nabi (Recklinghausen, Germany/Recklinghausen) was named as a Second Team All-PAC selection.  Abdel-Nabi was a constant in the midfield for the Golden Tornadoes this season, starting all 16 games he played in.  He tied for the team-high with four assists, with some of those coming off his corners and set pieces that he regularly took.

Junior Gabe Kemp (Normalville, Pa./Connellsville) was also named as a Second Team All-PAC selection.  Kemp started all 18 games for Geneva, only coming out for a few minutes late in Geneva's win over Thiel.  He led the PAC with five shutouts.  This is the third straight year Kemp has received all-conference recognition, including last season when he was named a First Team All-PAC selection.

Senior Ian Gelsinger (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) was named an Honorable Mention All-PAC selection, the second straight season he has received all-conference recognition.  Gelsinger has been a force for Geneva defensively throughout his four years on campus, a big reason why Geneva annually has one of the top defenses in the PAC.  He has started every game over the past three seasons, and he played the most minutes of any field player for the Golden Tornadoes this year.  He also helped out offensively, providing a strong presence in the air.  He scored twice this year, as well as assisting on four other goals.

Freshman Dominic Sambuco (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) was also named as an Honorable Mention All-PAC selection, a third member of Geneva's strong defensive backline.  Sambuco started every game but one in his first season on campus, and he assisted on three goals this year.
