Track and Field Heads Back to Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Geneva College men's and women's track and field teams headed back to Youngstown State University on Friday afternoon to take part in the YSU Collegiate Invitational, a meet with over 30 schools in attendance, including multiple Division I schools.

Senior Dom Data (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) ran well again, finishing second in the 200m race with a time of 21.81 seconds, defeating multiple Division I runners in the race.  He also placed 10th overall in the 60m sprint with a time of 7.03 seconds.

Senior Gabe Willis (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) ran a strong race in the 800 meters, finishing 17th overall with a time of 2:01.64.  Josiah Helmer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) finished 20th in the 5000m race with time of 16:56.53, while freshman Kevin Arseneaux (Yarmouth Port, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) turned in a strong time in the mile, finishing in 4:35.05 in his first race of the indoor track and field season.

For the women, senior Katryn Gatchell (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) came home with the highest finish for the ladies, placing 8th in the 800m race with time of 2:24.00.  Senior Olivia Younger (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) placed 13th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.63 seconds.  Sophomore Anne Holdeman (Bloomington, Ind./Lighthouse Christian Academy) turned in her best time in the 400m race with a finish of 1:03.78.

Both teams will head back to Youngstown State next weekend to take part in the YSU Mid-Major Invitational.
