Hart Receives Two Weekly Awards

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Geneva College sophomore Julia Hart (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) received two softball weekly awards on Monday after her big performance last week that helped the Golden Tornadoes qualify for the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) postseason.  Hart was named both the PAC Softball Rookie of the Week, as well as the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Softball Hitter of the Week.

Geneva entered the final week of the season, and the final day of the season, with work still left to do in order to qualify for the PAC playoffs, and Hart helped to make sure the Golden Tornadoes got the wins they needed to see their season continue on.  In six games last week, Hart hit 10-for-19 (.526) with two doubles, four home runs, 11 RBIs and eight runs scored.  It was one of the biggest weeks any PAC player has had this season offensively.

Hart and her teammates are scheduled to begin the PAC playoffs on Tuesday at the play-in tournament, hosted by Saint Vincent.  Geneva will face Grove City in the first game, with the winner immediately playing Saint Vincent for the chance to head to the double-elimination PAC Tournament later this week, hosted at Westminster.
