CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Geneva freshman
Carmen Medvit won the women's 3,000 Meter Run at the 2023 NCCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at Cedarville University on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Tornadoes scored 30 points for ninth place in the team standings at the two-day event.
Medvit picked up 10 points for the victory in the 3,000 Meter Run with a national championship time of 10:19.58. It was her second race of the day as she was the national runner-up in the 1 Mile Run with a time of 5:07.70. She earned 18 points to the team total.
Sophomore
Madison Castro picked up points for Geneva with a fifth-place finish in the 1 Mile Run with a time of 5:19.25. She also placed ninth in the 800 Meter Run. Senior
Naomi Swartzbaugh earned points with her seventh-place finish in the 60 Meter Hurdles final in a time of 9.80.
Freshman
Emma Parnell posted points to the team total in the Long Jump and Triple Jump. She placed fifth in the Triple Jump with a hop, skip and jump of 10.47 meters and eighth in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.86 meters. Rookie
Ellie Bates also scored in the Triple Jump with a distance of 9.52 meters for eighth place.
The Golden Tornadoes have one final warm-up meet before the 2023 PAC Championships on Friday, February 17 at the Muskingum Meet. Competition on the campus of Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio, will begin at 11 a.m.
