YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio --- The Geneva women's track & field team finished in third place with 82.5 points at the 2023 Presidents Athletics Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday. Freshman
Carmen Medvit was named the Women's Most Valuable Performer and recorded the most points of the meet among runners with 32.5 points.
Medvit won three races and anchored the winning distance medley relay team for the Golden Tornadoes. Medvit started the day with victory and PAC meet record in the 3,000 Meter Run in 10:11.35. Her second win of the day was in the Mile with a PAC meet record of 5:05.89. Her third crown came in the 5,000 Meter Run with a time of 18:01.90, breaking the Geneva record she set earlier this season.
Medvit also ran the anchor leg of the winning Distance Medley Relay team of
Madison Castro,
Audrey McMahan, and
Hailey Carroll in a PAC meet, and Geneva, record time of 12:46.03.
Castro, a sophomore, finished fourth in the Mile in a time of 5:15.73 and fifth in the 800 Meter Run (2:22.35). Carroll, a freshman, placed fourth in the 800 in 2:21.19, setting a new Geneva record.
Senior
Naomi Swartzbaugh placed sixth in the 60 Meter Hurdles in 9.61 seconds. Junior Jaci Menetti picked up a point for Geneva with her eighth place finish in the 5,000 (19:24.25).
Freshman
Emma Parnell earned team points in two events. She leaped 10.81 meters to take second place in the Triple Jump, surpassing the previous Geneva record she set earlier this season, and 4.96 meters in the Long Jump for fifth place. Classmate
Alayna Wilkins finished tied for sixth place in the Pole Vault at 2.28 meters.
Freshman
Allison Standish placed fourth in the Weight Throw (13.20 meters) and seventh in the Shot Put (11.03 meters).
The women's 4x400 Meter Relay team of Swartbaugh,
Favour Oladapo,
Rachel Blessing and
Anne Holdeman placed sixth in a time of 4:22.19.
NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on March 10-11 in Birmingham, Alabama.
