MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Geneva women's track & field team placed 16th with 15 points at the 2023 Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Friday and Saturday. The field was a mix of 28 NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and NJCAA programs in the opening meet of the 2023 outdoor season.
On Friday evening, freshman
Carmen Medvit won the 5,000 Meter race in a Geneva record-setting time of 17:36.90. Junior
Jaci Mennetti placed eighth in the same race with a time of 19:45.89.
In other key performances, senior
Naomi Swartzbaugh placed sixth in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:10.49, while sophomore
Madison Castro finished eighth in the 1,500 Meter Run (Seeded) with a time of 4:55.34.
Geneva returns to action on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18, for the two-day Muskie Duals at Muskingum University in Ohio. Competition begins at 4 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
