PITTSBURGH/BETHANY, W.Va. – The Geneva women's track & field team split up this weekend to compete at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational and the Bethany Invitational. The Golden Tornadoes placed tied for 15
th at CMU with five points and in eighth place at Bethany with 30 points.
Geneva picked up the five points at CMU on freshman
Carmen Medvit's fourth place finish in the 1500 Meter Run on Friday night. She ran a time of 4:48.31.
At Bethany on Saturday, senior
Naomi Swartzbaugh advanced to the 100 Meter Hurdles finals and finished fifth overall in a time of 16.92 seconds. Senior
Alexis Montgomery placed third in the Javelin Throw with a heave of 32.53 meters.
Rookies continued to make an impression early in the outdoor season.
Alayna Wilkins was third in the Pole Vault with an up and over of 2.30 meters.
Emma Parnell picked up two top eight finishes on the day. She finished fifth in the Long Jump at 4.84 meters and fourth in the Triple Jump at 10.24 meters.
The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Swartzbaugh,
Anne Holdeman, Parnell and
Kendall Shaporka took second place in a time of 53.66.
Up next for the Golden Tornadoes is the West Liberty meet on Saturday, April 1.
