BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Senior Carter Milroy was named the Allegheny Mountain College Conference (AMCC) Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his play over the final week of the regular season in which Milroy helped the Golden Tornadoes secure a spot in the AMCC Playoffs starting this week.  This is the third time this season Milroy had been honored with a weekly award.

Milroy had a standout week both defensively and offensively for the Golden Tornadoes and could have easily been honored with either award.  He opened his week with a career-high 21 kills against first place Saint Vincent on Wednesday, hitting .319 to go with 14 digs and four blocks.  On Saturday in a match against Hilbert in which Geneva had to win to make the playoffs, Milroy had 12 digs, two blocks and 11 kills on a .321 hitting percentage.  The Golden Tornadoes wrapped up the regular season with a match against Chatham later on Saturday, and Milroy had eight blocks, six digs and 10 kills.

For the week, Milroy finished the three matches defensively with 14 blocks (1.17 b/s) and 32 digs (2.67 d/s).  Offensively, he finished with 42 kills (3.50 k/s) on a .290 hitting percentage, averaging an impressive 4.4 points per set.

Men's volleyball begins the playoffs tonight when Geneva travels to No. 3 Thiel for a 7:00 p.m. match in the AMCC Quarterfinals.  If the Golden Tornadoes win, they'll advance to play No. 2 Hiram on Friday in the AMCC Semifinals hosted at Saint Vincent.
