BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its postseason awards for the men's volleyball season Tuesday evening, with the PAC Sports Network broadcasting the All-PAC Men's Volleyball Selection Show. Five different Geneva players received all-conference recognition, with two being named to the All-PAC Second Team and three more earning Honorable Mention spots.
Senior
Andrew Ubinger and junior
Owen Kelley were the Golden Tornadoes' Second Team honorees. Ubinger was a do-it-all force for the men in his final season, switching between right-side and setter through the first half of the season before taking over as the team's primary setter. He led the team with 673 assists and 26 aces, while notching 203 digs, 117 kills and 45 blocks as well. Ubinger finishes his career as the first player in NCAA Division III since at least 2013 to record at least 700 kills, 700 assists, and 700 digs in just four years of play. Following his senior season, he also ranks in the top five in program history in career kills, assists, digs, and aces. This is the second consecutive season he has been named to the All-PAC Second Team.
Kelley was Geneva's other Second Team honoree, finishing the season with 278 kills, most on the team and third-most in the PAC. Earlier this season, he became Geneva's all-time kill leader, and he now has a program-record 886 kills entering his senior year. He registered 184 digs, 35 blocks, and 21 aces on the season as well. It was the second all-conference award of his career, and he will be a key returning member of Geneva's squad next season.
Senior
Evan Puhl, junior
Daniel Spear, and sophomore
Christian Parks all earned Honorable Mention All-PAC awards for the Golden Tornadoes. In his senior year, Puhl hit a team-best .247 and was second on the squad in both kills (156) and blocks (75). Spear was the team leader in blocks, notching 87 on the year (second-best in the PAC) while also contributing 127 kills on .226 hitting. Parks held the libero spot for most of the season, leading the team with 222 digs and 2.81 digs per set, which was the second-best mark in the conference. It is the second all-conference award of Puhl's career, while Spear and Parks are both first-time recipients.
In addition to the five players named to the All-PAC teams, junior defensive specialist
Alex Smith was also honored by the PAC on Tuesday by being named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team.
