Kelley, Spear and Ubinger Recognized as Academic All-District Selections by CSC

GREENWOOD, Ind. – On Tuesday afternoon three members of the Geneva College men's volleyball team were honored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) as Academic All-District selections.  Senior Andrew Ubinger, along with juniors Owen Kelley and Daniel Spear, were each honored for their excellence both on the court and in the classroom.

To be honored as CSC Academic All-District selections, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically while holding a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.  Players must also have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games or been a starter in at least 66 percent of their contests.

Ubinger, who graduated with a degree in Physics with Secondary Education degree, along with Kelley, an Engineering major, and Spear, a Computer Science major, all were key players for the Golden Tornadoes this year and each were named All-PAC selections at the end of this season.  Kelley broke the career kills record this season, Ubinger finished his career in the top five in program history in kills, assists, aces and digs, and Spear is third in program history in blocks.

This is the third straight year Ubinger has been honored by the CSC, the most possible, while Kelley and Spear have been recognized for two straight years.
