BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Following two impressive performances for the Geneva women's basketball program last week, senior guard
Emily Garvin was selected as the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Week Monday afternoon. Garvin helped Geneva rebound from two losses to open the month with two non-conference victories this past week, as the Golden Tornadoes defeated Kenyon 80-73 on Monday and Wooster 93-59 on Saturday.
Across the two wins, Garvin averaged 23.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 steals per game while shooting an efficient 58.6% from the field. Against Kenyon, she posted 21 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and six steals, shooting 6-for-14 from the field and a near-perfect 8-for-9 from the free throw line. She followed up that performance with a dominant outing at home against Wooster, recording a season-high 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field, pulling down 11 boards as well for her third double-double of the season. She also added five assists, a block, and a steal in the victory over the Fighting Scots.
Through the first month of the season, Garvin leads the PAC in scoring with 18.5 points per game, and she ranks in the top ten in the conference in rebounds per game (8.0), assists per game (3.8), field goal percentage (.491), and free throw percentage (.814). She has scored at least 21 points in each of her last three outings and has posted a double-double in three of her last four games.
Garvin and the rest of the GTs play once more before leaving for winter break, traveling to the University of Akron on Tuesday, December 16
th, to take on the Division I Zips in an exhibition game. Tip-off for that contest is at 6:00 p.m.
