BEREA, Ohio – The Geneva College men's and women's track and field teams competed on Friday at the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Meet, their final meet before the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Indoor Championships in a little less than two weeks.
Graduate student Jack Garvin won two events on Friday. Garvin placed first in the high jump by clearing 1.95 meters, while he also won the 55-meter sprint with a time of 6.67 seconds. Baldwin Wallace has a slightly smaller track, so the short sprint distance was only 55 meters, as opposed to the normal 60-meter distance for most indoor competitions.
The Geneva women also placed well in the high jump and 55-meter dash. In the high jump, sophomore Daphne Alexander and freshman Olivia Seetoo took first and second place, both clearing 1.46 meters, while freshman Sara Vos won the women's 55-meter dash with a time of 7.68 seconds.
Junior Seth Tyson had a busy day. He won the triple jump with an effort of 11.54 meters, he placed second in the long jump with a jump of 5.98 meters, and he placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.46 seconds.
Junior Hailey Carroll won the mile race with a time of 5:15.16, while freshman Connor Miller was the final top finisher for Geneva, placing first in the 3000-meters with a time of 9:52.14.
Junior Allison Standish performed well in the throws again. She placed second in the shot put with a throw of 10.96 meters, and she placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.90 meters.
Sophomore Kaelyn Hartman placed second in the triple jump (9.63 meters) and third in the long jump (4.68 meters). Freshmen Matt Otto and Trevor Nasso also added second-place finishes. Otto finished second in the 5000-meters with a time of 16:14.26. Nasso placed second in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:06.05.
The PAC Indoor Championships are scheduled for Thursday, February 27, and will again be hosted at Youngstown State.
