BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Junior guard
Emily Garvin put together an excellent first season with the Geneva women's basketball program and was rewarded for it by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), being named to the All-PAC Second Team when the organization released their post-season awards and all-conference teams on Tuesday night. Junior forward
Anna Ulmer was also named to the PAC Sportsmanship team on the same night.
Garvin transferred to Geneva from PAC-rival Grove City following her freshman year, and due to intra-conference transfer rules at the time she was forced to sit out her sophomore season. She re-entered the PAC women's basketball scene with a bang this year, leading the conference in scoring with 19.7 points per game, a mark that put her 1.7 ppg higher than anyone else in the PAC. Additionally, she was tops in the PAC in both made field goals (188) and made free throws (109) and finished in the top 10 conference-wide in rebounds (7.4), assists (3.1), and steals per game (2.5). Her aggressive play style driving to the paint proved to be a nice complement to the run-and-gun offense head coach
Michael Grinder runs, and she finished the season with 493 total points scored, putting her just off-pace for 1,000 career points in two seasons.
Ulmer made an impressive leap in her junior year, averaging 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while giving Geneva significant minutes in just her second season playing collegiate basketball. She played in all 25 games for the GTs, starting 19, and her dedication and commitment to the women's basketball program are notable.
