SHARON, Pa. – Junior Austin Goehring carded a 72 on Saturday at the Thiel Invitational, hosted at Avalon at Buhl, to lead the Geneva College men's golf team to a tie for fifth place, with ten teams competing at the event.
Goehring's total finished just one shot behind the eventual medalist, good for second place out of the 53 golfers competing. His round included five birdies and eight pars, and his total was just two strokes off his own school record. Sophomore Ryan Edwards shot a 78, while seniors Joshua Hido and Michael DeMiere rounded out the top four by carding an 85 and 86, respectively.
Saturday's round was the last one before Geneva closes out the season with the final two rounds of the Presidents' Athletic Conference championships on April 25-26. The rounds will be played at the Mill Creek Metroparks South Course.
