NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Senior Hailey Carroll broke the school record in the 3000-meter race on Saturday at the Muskie Meet #1 hosted by Muskingum, highlighting the performances for the Geneva College men's and women's track and field team. A total of 15 schools competed at the meet, including multiple Division II teams.
Carroll's time of 9:58.81 broke fellow senior Carmen Medvit's record by seven seconds, and the time also broke the facility record at the meet. Carroll's performance was the lone first place finish for the Golden Tornadoes. Medvit also ran well in the mile, finishing in third place with a time of 5:17.30.
Sophomore Olivia Seetoo highlighted the jumpers with a second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters. Junior Kaelyn Hartman placed sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.43 meters.
In the sprints, freshman Rachel Baird placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.39 seconds. Sophomore Sara Vos placed ninth in the 200-meters with a time of 27.64 seconds. And in the throws, senior Allison Standish placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 11.22 meters, while sophomore Kyla Parks placed ninth in the weight throw by with an effort of 13.31 meters.
For the men, graduate student Jack Garvin was one of the top finishers for Geneva, placing fifth in both the high jump, 1.88 meters, and the long jump, 6.40 meters. Freshman Nathan Bailey also placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing 3.80 meters, while sophomore Abe Konneh placed fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.06 seconds.
The men did well in the distance races. Seniors Eli Eisenberger also posted a fifth-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:34.99, with senior Tommy Corbin right behind in sixth with a time of 4:35.15. Sophomore Matt Otto placed eighth in the event with a time of 4:38.68.
In the 3000-meter distance, sophomore Ethan Haring placed sixth with a time of 9:05.91. Senior Alec McCready placed eighth in the 400-meters with a time of 54.41 seconds. Freshman Amiri Copeland finished ninth in the triple jump with a jump of 11.61 meters, while freshman Zach Lucas placed 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.42 seconds.
The teams will be back in action next Saturday at the Spire Midwest Open.
