Stowe Earns Newcomer Award Following First Week of Play

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – With men's volleyball season newly underway, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its first round of weekly awards Tuesday afternoon. Geneva freshman Joshua Stowe, fresh off of his first week of collegiate play, was named the PAC Newcomer of the Week after helping the Golden Tornadoes to a 2-1 record over the last seven days. In those three matches, Stowe recorded 20 kills on a .239 hitting percentage while also posting 19 digs and seven aces.

Geneva opened the week with a match at Mount Union, and Stowe played well in his collegiate debut, registering a team-high nine digs to go along with six kills and an ace. He then helped the Golden Tornadoes to two victories against Bridgewater and Carlow on Friday night, ending the evening with 14 kills on a .310 hitting percentage while adding ten digs and six aces. Stowe immediately showed his capability of handling a starting spot in the GTs' rotation, and he will look to continue being an impact player for head coach Alexis Ritson in his freshman year.

Stowe is the first player to win a Newcomer of the Week award for Geneva since the PAC added men's volleyball to its list of conference sports last season.

The Golden Tornadoes return to action tonight, January 20th, hosting Mount Aloysius College inside Metheny Fieldhouse at 7:00 p.m.
