BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – This past week,
Emily Garvin put together two of the best all-around performances by a Geneva women's basketball player in recent memory, finishing just shy of a triple-double on Wednesday before securing one on Saturday. On Monday afternoon, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) honored Garvin by naming her the PAC Player of the Week, an award that she has now won in back-to-back weeks and three times overall this season.
Garvin put together a very well-rounded stat line in Geneva's 99-90 road victory at PAC-rival Westminster on Wednesday, finishing the game with 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting. She also pulled down ten rebounds and dished out nine assists, needing one more of the latter to reach a triple-double. She accomplished that feat just three days later in the Golden Tornadoes' overtime loss to Bethany, scoring 30 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the field and finishing with 13 rebounds and 11 assists. She also recorded nine steals in the contest, leaving her one steal shy of a rare quadruple-double. Across the week, she averaged 22.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 10.0 assists, and 5.5 steals per game.
While Garvin turned things up a notch this past week, she has been one of the top players in the PAC all season long. She is currently tied for first in the conference in scoring, averaging 18.6 points per game, and she ranks in the top seven in the PAC in steals per game (2.9 – 2
nd place), assists per game (5.1 – 4
th place), free throw percentage (75.3% - 6
th place), field goal percentage (47.3% - 7
th place), and rebounds per game (7.7 – 7
th place).
Garvin and the rest of the women return to action this Wednesday, January 28, with a road matchup against Allegheny.
