BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva women's lacrosse team is set to open the 2026 season this weekend, beginning their second-ever season of competition after the program was started last year. The GTs were picked to finish ninth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) women's lacrosse preseason poll, finishing with 26 points. Grove City College came in first in the poll, earning 89 points and eight of the ten available first-place votes. The last two first-place votes went to W&J, who finished second in the voting.
Head coach
Liz Geyer took the reigns of the program last season, and she returns to lead the Golden Tornadoes in 2026. Geyer did a good job of retaining her players from last season, losing just three consistent starters from the year before, so the team has some continuity entering their second season. Unfortunately, All-PAC midfielder
Amanda Gillette did not return, leaving a hole at the draw control circle for the GTs.
Stepping up to fill that void will be two juniors, midfielder
Mara Fowlow and attacker
Julianna Easley. Both players were heavy contributors for Geneva last season, and both were named Players to Watch by the PAC this year as well. Fowlow has some experience on the draw control, winning 19 as a sophomore last year, while also scoring three goals. Easley scored nine goals last season, starting 14 of Geneva's 15 matches.
Two sophomores were also named PAC Players to Watch this season. Midfielder
Taylor Robinson will look to build on a solid freshman campaign in which she started 13 matches, finishing with two goals, 19 ground balls, six caused turnovers, and six draw controls. Defender
Madi DeRuiter also plans to return after suffering an injury late in the 2025 season, and she should provide an important lift to a relatively inexperienced defense.
Geyer has brought in five newcomers to bolster the lineup, which is especially important due to the five seniors set to graduate at the end of the semester.
The women start their season this Saturday, February 14 at Pitt-Bradford, taking on the Panthers at 1:00 p.m. They will then return to Beaver Falls for a three-game homestand, facing off against Mount Aloysius, La Roche, and Buffalo State all in the span of eight days.
