BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – For the fourth time in the seven weeks of the indoor track season, senior Hailey Carroll was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for her performance over the weekend at Penn State.
Carroll continues to be a record-breaking machine for the Golden Tornadoes this year. Finally healthy after suffering through an injury-filled season last year, Carroll is putting together a track season as impressive as anyone has had in the conference over the last several years.
On Friday at the Penn State Tune-Up, she broke her own school record in the mile race, finishing with a time of 4:53.87. That time is the 15th fastest time in NCAA Division III this year, putting her in strong contention to qualify for the national meet in three weeks. She also owns the 30th fastest time in Division III in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:48.21.
Carroll has now broken the school record this indoor season in the 800-meter, mile and 3000-meter races. This is the fifth straight week Carroll has broken at least one school record.
Carroll and the rest of the Golden Tornadoes will compete for the PAC Indoor Championship on Thursday at Youngstown State. The first event starts at 10:30 a.m.
