BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Senior first baseman
Kirk Bearjar is in the midst of one of the best hitting stretches of his career. On Monday afternoon, when the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its weekly awards, he was recognized for his recent success by being named the PAC Hitter of the Week. It is the first weekly award of Bearjar's career, coming two weeks before his graduation this May.
Bearjar put together a very impressive stat line last week, batting .565 with a 1.174 slugging percentage and a 1.781 OPS. In Geneva's split with Hiram on Wednesday, he went a near-perfect 7-for-9 at the plate, knocking two home runs, two doubles, and four RBIs, while also scoring three runs. He then followed up that performance with a 4-for-7 effort in the GTs' sweep of Waynesburg on Saturday, hitting another home run along with a triple and a double while picking up three more RBIs and five runs.
In game one against Hiram on Wednesday, Bearjar drove in his 100
th career RBI by hitting a two-run homer over the centerfield fence. He is now up to 105 RBIs over the course of his career.
Geneva baseball plays again Tuesday, April 28, when they host Hilbert in a non-conference doubleheader. The first pitch between the Golden Tornadoes and the Hawks is set for 1:00 p.m.
