ELLWOOD, Pa. – The Geneva College women's golf team continues to get big contributions from its group of freshmen, and led by those young ladies the Golden Tornadoes put up another impressive effort on Monday afternoon in a match with Waynesburg at Connoquenessing Country Club. Geneva won the match 384 to 549, improving by 16 strokes over its performance last week at Franciscan.
Today it was freshman
Karly Devaney (Akron, Ohio/Springfield) who led the Golden Tornadoes while carding a 91, the best performance by a Geneva women's golfer since the program started last year. Freshman
Hannah Therrell (Barrigada, Guam/Academy of Our Lady of Guam), who led Geneva against Franciscan, wasn't far behind with a 94.

Sarah Theus (Fleming, Fla./Fleming Isle) also finished under 100, carding a 97. Sophomore
Calli Grimplin (Burgettstown, Pa./South Side Beaver) shot a career-best 102, while freshman
Anna Kaminski (Middleville, Mich./Thornapple Kellogg) also finished with a 102.
"We're very grateful to have had a beautiful day for our home opener this afternoon," said Head Coach
Andrew Fee. "We continue to learn about our team every time we step on the course, and we are constantly talking with them about the need to improve every time out. We have set high goals for our team this year, and we're going to have to work hard to achieve some of those things as we look ahead to the conference tournament in a couple weeks."
Geneva is back in action this Friday with a match at home against Franciscan beginning at 1:00 p.m.
