Shook, Townsend and Veon Honored by PAC

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Seniors Hope Shook and Maggie Townsend, along with sophomore Megan Veon, were honored by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Tuesday for their play over this past season for the Geneva College women's volleyball team.  Each player was named an Honorable Mention All-PAC selection.

Shook was Geneva's leading hitter on the outside this season, finishing second on the team with 227 kills, surpassing 500 career kills despite missing all last season due to injuries.  She also added 92 digs and 31 blocks for the Golden Tornadoes.  Shook was also an Honorable Mention All-PAC selection her freshman season.

Townsend began the season wearing the libero shirt, but later in the season she transitioned to an outside hitting position where she also did some setting in one rotation.  She was one of the most well-rounded players in the PAC this season.  She led the team with 436 digs, including a career-high 40 digs early in the season against Manchester, while adding 115 assists, 37 kills and 30 aces.  She finished her career seventh in school history with 1,494 career digs.  This is the second straight season she has received All-PAC honors.

Veon was the third player recognized by the conference.  She led the team with 283 kills, on a .233 hitting percentage, and 91 blocks.  She finished in the top ten in the PAC in kills per set, blocks per set, and hitting percentage.  She had a career-high 24 kills in a five-set victory at Penn State Altoona, while finishing with a career-high eight blocks against Thiel.  This is also the second straight season Veon has received postseason recognition from the PAC.
