Women’s Golf Ready for Year Four

GREENVILLE, Pa. – As the Geneva College women's golf teams prepares for its fourth season of varsity competition, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its preseason poll on Friday, as voted on by the coaches, with the Golden Tornadoes getting picked fifth.  Westminster, who won last year's PAC Championship, was picked first.

This season will be the first year for Head Coach Henry Kennedy, taking over for Barry Borza, who oversaw the program during the spring.  Kennedy will take over a program that has several talented newcomers returning that helped Geneva finish fourth at last season's PAC Championships.

Leading the list of returners is sophomore Sabienea Winston (Antigua/Antigua State), who led the Golden Tornadoes over the three rounds of the fall and spring championships by carding a 265, placing her seventh and earning Second Team All-PAC honors.  Juniors Hannah Therrell (Barrigada, Guam/Academy of Our Lady of Guam) and Sarah Theus (Fleming Isle, Fla./Fleming Isle) are also back after earning Honorable Mention All-PAC honors last season.  Junior Anna Kaminski (Middleville, Mich./Thornapple Kellogg) and sophomore Karlee Bittner (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) should also add depth to the squad.

The women open their season on Tuesday, September 6, when the Golden Tornadoes host a tri-match with Waynesburg and Saint Vincent at Connoquenessing Country Club.
