VIENNA, Ohio – After a month and a half of preparation, the Geneva women's golf team traveled west to participate in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Fall Championships today, a two-day event featuring all the women's golf teams in the PAC. Following Day One, the women sit in ninth place overall, recording a team score of 431. Westminster leads the pack with a team score of 337.
Sophomore
Madison Sharek was the top performer for the women, shooting an 82 to finish the first round of the Championships in second place overall, just two strokes behind Westminster's Ava Liburdi. Sharek had a stellar start to the round, finishing the front nine at just four over par, before slowing down a little bit on the back nine. She is in an excellent position heading into Day Two of the tournament.
Freshman
Onika Alonzi was the next best finisher for the Golden Tornadoes, carding a 100 on the dot and tying for 29
th overall. Junior
Sydney Peasley slotted third for Geneva by shooting a 113.
The PAC Championships are played over the course of four different days, with the first two rounds taking place in the fall and the next two in the spring. Day Two starts tomorrow, October 14
th, with the first tee time set for 9:30 a.m.
