ELLWOOD, Pa. – Freshman Madison Sharek led the Geneva College women's golf team to a victory over Franciscan on Monday afternoon at Connoquenessing Country Club, which opened spring play for the Golden Tornadoes.
Sharek carded an 88 on a fairly windy and cool afternoon, leading the women to a team score of 425. She was the only golfer for either team to break 100 on a challenging day to hit. A pair of seniors, Karlee Bittner and Sabienea Winston, were second and third for the Golden Tornadoes, carding a 107 and a 110, respectively. Sophomore Sydney Peasley rounded out the top four with a 123.
The women will be back in action next Wednesday, April 2, at the Grove City Invitational, played at the Grove City Country Club.
